Half A Foot of Snow Accumulates For Leap Day As Resort Surpasses 200-Inch Milestone

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO-February 29, 2012-Steamboat will leap into March with a boatload of snow as more than half a foot of Champagne Powder® snow piled up overnight in Ski Town, U.S.A. ® and
nearly 8 feet of snow has fallen at mid-mountain during the month of February.

Currently, Steamboat is in a snowy storm pattern with 7 inches at mid-mountain and the summit in the past 24-hours. Over the past 10 days, the resort has experienced a whopping 59 inches (4.9 feet) at mid and 64 inches (5.3 feet) at the
summit, including a record breaking one day storm of 27 inches on Feb. 22nd. Powder conditions with a 63-inch base at mid-mtn and 71-inch base at the summit are currently being reported.
Leap Day closes out a February where 93 inches (7.75 feet) blanketed the slopes at mid-mountain and 108.75 (9.1 feet) at the summit, with snow falling 17 out of 29 days including 13 of those days recording four or more inches of snow. So
far this season, Steamboat has seen 203 inches of snow accumulate at mid-mountain and 221.75 inches at the summit.
A Winter Storm Warming remains in effect from 5 pm this afternoon to 9 am on Friday as snow continues to fall across the Yampa Valley. Scattered snow showers will become more numerous and increase in coverage tonight as another strong Pacific
storm moves into the region. Periods of snow, heavy at times, will occur over the mountain after midnight and continue through Thursday. Snow remains in Steamboat with scattered snow through Thursday and Friday, before dry and warmer conditions settle in
for the weekend.
