Biography

I grew up on the east coast in Simsbury, CT, a small suburban town outside Hartford, CT. I am the middle kid of 5. We were lucky enough to have a small local ski hill, (Ski Sundown) where we had a family season’s pass. My folks took us skiing every weekend, and when I was old enough to take the bus after school, I would also spend every afternoon skiing.

I went to school to pursue a degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management at Western Kentucky University. Having no mountains close by, the draw to the mountains lead me back to home where I could ski and continue my education at UCONN. I worked as a hotel manager, took classes at night, coached cheerleading at my high school alma mater. (Because I didn’t have enough on my plate) A few of my childhood ski buddies talked me into ski teaching at my home hill part time. This is where my story really begins.

Needing to pick one career, I decided my love of the sport of skiing, sharing my passion for the sport and the mountains was the lifestyle and path I wanted to take.

Bolton Valley in Vermont took a chance on me and hired me to be the youngest Ski School Director in the country. A few years of this made me realize big hills were calling, so I picked up and moved to live a ski bum lifestyle in the West. I moved to Lake Tahoe, CA.

Here’s a list of what happened next:

• Became an Examiner with PSIA-W. Was a ski school manager with Alpine Meadows Resort, was the director of the Women’s Programs, and met a boy who lived in Jackson Hole.

• Moved to Jackson Hole, ditched the guy, kept the mountain, and continued to grow my craft in the ski teaching world. I lived in Jackson for 8 years, followed an endless winter, working in two hemispheres, became the Educational Chair for PSIA-Intermountain, and met my soon to be husband.

• Followed my soon to be hubby back to Tahoe, got married and started a family of our own. Vail Resorts scooped us up and moved us to Colorado to join their team.

• Since then, we have moved 6 times, lived in CA, NJ, California again, Colorado, California AGAIN, and now reside in Woodstock, VT, where my husband is the CEO and VP of the Eastern Region for Vail Resorts, overseeing 23 resorts. I continue to work for and with PSIA. I am currently an active examiner in 3 divisions: Rocky Mountain, Western, and the Eastern division.

• We are sharing our love of the mountain life (and sailing) with our two kids, Mia, 14 and Nicky, 12, and dog, Buddy.
