  • Jackson Hole | August 14, 2006

    Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) officials announced today their intention to enhance the legacy created over the last 40 years by committing to build a new 100 passenger, state of the art aerial tramway from the base in Teton Village to the summit of Rendezvous Mountain, a vertical rise of 4,139'. This lift will have the longest continual vertical rise of any ski lift in North America. It will replace the existing smaller aerial tram that will cease to operate October 1, 2006.


  • Snowbird | August 14, 2006

    Media are invited to witness the punch-through and be one of the first to walk through Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort’s new tunnel connecting Peruvian Gulch to Mineral Basin Wednesday, Aug. 16. Work began on the first ski area tunnel in North America Aug. 17, 2005, and Aug. 16, 2006, will mark the first time light will be seen at both ends of the nearly 600-foot tunnel.


  • Telluride | July 24, 2006

    The Telluride Montrose Regional Air Organization (TMRAO) announced today America West/USAir will renew winter service with two daily non-stop flights between Phoenix and Telluride Regional Airport beginning December 15, 2006. This service will run through March 31, 2007. A 37 passenger Dash 8 aircraft will operate the service.

    Big Mountain Resort has announced its annual "Stargazer" evening on July 15. Members of the Big Sky Astronomy Club will bring their telescopes to the 7000-foot summit of Big Mountain for an evening of gazing at the stars through telescopes. The event is free, but regular lift charges apply.

    The Telluride Ski Resort (Telski) posted a total of 390,346 skier visits for the 2005-2006 season. A skier visit represents one person skiing or snowboarding at the ski area for all or part of one day. Telski officials attribute the volume of skier days to a strong showing from the regional market and destination visitors, increased group sales and an increase in air travelers to the region.

    The Telluride Montrose Regional Air Organization (TMRAO) announced United Airlines service from the Montrose Regional Airport. The non-stop flight from Los Angeles will operate on Saturdays this coming winter by Skywest Airlines. Los Angeles to Montrose service will begin December 16, 2006 and run through April 7, 2007.


  • Northstar-At-Tahoe | June 6, 2006

    While the official start of summer might be two weeks away, Lake Tahoe is already getting a taste of it with daytime temperatures predicted to reach the low eighties this week. These warm days have allowed the Northstar golf course to thaw out from its heavy winter snowpack and open its driving range ahead of schedule, with the golf course’s scenic mountain nine to follow this Sunday, June 11.

    Telluride Ski Resort received two awards at the National Ski Area Association’s (NSAA) annual conference last week. On May 23 in Marco Island, Florida, the NSAA recognized Telluride with two top honors for ‘Best Overall Marketing’ and the ‘Silver Eagle Environmental’ award.
