History
The concept of SkiTops was first discussed in 1988 at a hotel near the Chicago Airport. A number of ski tour company owners gathered to explore the concept of sharing experiences and situations they encountered within the ski industry.
A year later the concept was pitched to other owners and a meeting in Park City occured.
In 1990 the first board of directors and president were elected. A set of bylaws were established and the organization was officially born.
Through the 1990's the membership grew on both sides - Tour Operators and Suppliers. The focus was on the spring Network.
The Fall Meeting each year was for Tour Operators only. Those meetings helped define the organization and the directions that would evolve into what SkiTops is today.
In 2000, Suppliers were invited for the first time to attend Fall Meetings.
In 2002 a supplier member was elected by peers to serve on the Board of Directors. As a board member, this Supplier representative is active in decision making and discussions, but does not have an actual vote on specific measures.
Today SkiTops continues to grow and support its' members and the ski industry.
